We provide high quality out of school care to children and families in East London. The services we provide are popular with parents, carers, children and local schools. At present the Family and Childcare service consists of 14 After school clubs, 4 Breakfast Clubs and Day Camps (which runs during the spring and summer holidays).
After School and Breakfast Clubs
Our After School and Breakfast Clubs are situated in the following schools:
Ainslie Wood Primary School (After School Club), Barn Croft Primary School (After School Club), Chapel End Junior School (After School Club), Chase Lane Primary School (Separate clubs for infants and juniors), Edinburgh Primary School (After School Club), Gwyn Jones Primary School (After School Club), Handsworth Primary School (After School and Breakfast Club), Henry Maynard Infants School (After School Club), South Grove Primary School (After School Club), St Antony’s Catholic Primary School (After School Club), Wells Primary School (After School Club), Whittingham Community Primary School (After School and Breakfast Club) and Yardley Primary School (After School and Breakfast Club).
The after-school clubs are part of the YMCA’s commitment to provide high quality childcare for working parents who are unable to collect their children when normal school hours finish. Breakfast clubs operate in the same way. School pupils arrive before school starts and are given a healthy breakfast to set them up for the day. All our After-School and Breakfast clubs are OFSTED registered and are run according to OFSTED regulations. Our Club Leaders and Playworkers are dedicated to providing a safe, fun place for the children where they can be themselves and be accepted for who they are. They provide a variety of different play activities enabling the children to gain confidence and learn new skills.
Forest YMCA has been a key Voluntary Sector provider in supporting the government’s ‘Extended Services Core Offer’ in Primary Schools. We continue to work in partnership with the Extended Services team.
Day Camps
Forest Day Camps are situated at Lambourne End in Chigwell. They provide an exciting range of outdoor activities for children and young people aged 5-15. More information can be found on Forest Day Camps website at http://www.forestdaycamps.co.uk
Volunteering
Forest Day Camps are special because they are run by young people for young people. We train young volunteers to work at our Easter and Summer Camps. If you are looking for something fun to do during the Spring and Summer holidays look no further!
